James McCann and Sharon Ambrose of A Paranormal Group Erie County Pa. conducted the Ghost Hunting 101. Featuring the “Spirit Box 7″ device, an electronic device that allows some EVPs to be heard in real time.

On this evening there was a very interesting, Class A (meaning, “heard in real time”) EVP. Click this link to the new Knickerbocker Annex page for more about it and several variations of the recording.

DRAWING – Kate Hilton[R] of Conneaut Lake and the Knickerbocker, Linesville, teamed up during the summer [Memorial Day to Labor Day] in which visitors to the Knickerbocker purchased chances on a Hilton print of her original painting of the Barbara J sternwheeler on Conneaut Lake. Winner was Lisa Hayes of Saegertown. Proceeds benefited the Keystone Blind Association. On left is Peg Knickerbocker of the Knickerbocker and Heidi Mumau [C} of Keystone. It was the third year of the event.

The building is known for having plenty of paranormal activity throughout, but it is very rare to actually have activity, in this instance, multiple occasions of activity. I attended an event to benefit beast cancer awareness, and had a very busy day full of excellent company, and hopefully a lot of money was raised.

When the benefit began to slow down, I began to wander the building a little bit more, I had still not seen the third floor for I was very busy throughout the day. When I came to the third story landing at the top of the stairs it immediately hit me. The amount of energy that was present was ridiculous. I began to wander through and immediately stopped after a few steps and entered a room on my right. The room was filled with period children’s toys and the original walls were exposed. I sat down on the bed and felt the room around me for a bit. It was as if all time had stopped, and the room closed around me.

I set my head back against the wall, and apparently fell fast asleep. Now, this would be very out of character for me to do so being an investigator for so many years. The room put my body at complete ease, even though there was very strong presences in the room. When I came to, not really knowing how long my eyes had been shut, I walked around the rest of the floor, feeling a bit disoriented and then rejoined my associates down stairs.

Shortly there after, a conference call came through to the group. I had not been previously involved with the Knick until this point so I sat back by the bar and watched from a distance. While sitting there, completely relaxed and enjoying the phone call, I caught something move out of the corner of my eye, I then focused on the area and saw it once again. It appeared to be a fast moving black object. The activity was seen through the glass on the french door that leads through to the front entry way that holds the master staircase on the first floor. After viewing this, I focused on the area for some time, trying to see if it could have been a shadow from something, or the reflection of a passing vehicle, both explored avenues came up useless. There was no reason for it. When the phone call was complete, I ventured back upstairs because my curiosity about the building was killing me.

I located the lovely Clara ( the owners sister) and began to converse with her about the building. We chose a dark sitting room on the third floor to have a conversation, with Michael Rambacher joining us shortly there after. As we spoke of the building, and I spoke of different presences that I was picking throughout the building the room began to change slightly. I can remember telling her, ” They like you here.”It was shortly there after that a while small ball of light shot around her and came back around and hit the arm of a dress that was on display next to where she was sitting. The arm from the dress swayed back and forth. We were all excited, and I simply stated to her, ” See Clara, I told you so.”

Noting my fatigue, Peg, the owner of the Knickerbocker told me, that I may choose any room in the hotel, to feel them out and see which one feels the most comfortable to me. I chose a small modest room in the back of the third floor. Though it was simple, it was most defiantly the one I wanted. It held a small twin bed, a dresser and a display of a beautiful black period dress, with a lovely matching hat. I retired earlier then the rest of the group as I had not had sleep the night before and was exhausted. I went up to my little room alone and crawled into bed, I took in the room around me and shut my eyes. I slept very hard that night, and when waking in the morning, I leaned over the bed, to regain my jeans that were folded on the floor next to me. When I looked at the floor I gasped! There on the floor on top of my jeans were scattered Christmas decorations.

Something had pulled two Christmas Stockings, and a pair of period shoes out from under the bed, and placed them across my jeans. I simply laughed and said, ” But guys! Its not Christmas yet!.” I neatly tucked the decorations and shoes back under the bed, slipped my jeans on and walked downstairs to give my associates a morning greet. For the short time I was lucky enough to spend in the Knickerbocker Hotel, I had many experiences. This building is by far one of the most active sites I have ever visited in my Paranormal Career, I can not wait to be back there.
